Presidente da DuPont discursa no Fórum da África

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — At last week’s World Economic Forum on Africa 2010, Proteção de Cultivos DuPont President James C. Collins spoke about the key role of agricultural improvements in tackling the continent’s problems of hunger and water scarcity.

Agricultural improvements, said Collins, depend on a strong collaboration between pulic and private organizations to provide access to knowledge and technology. Collins also pointed out the need for additional investment in research and infrastructure; optimized agricultural productivity; and
increased water efficiency. He pointed out DuPonts annual $700 million investment in research and development to create solutions to increase food production while reducing its enviromental footprint.

“Local infrastructure that provides secure access to land, water, energy, agricultural inputs and financing is fundamental to sustainable production,” Collins said speaking on the Managing the Water, Food, Energy Nexus panel. Panelists discussed how African governments and businesses can work across boundaries to overcome the current bottleneck and create sustainable growth and development.
