Dow Acquires Two Seed Companies

Indiana, US-based Dow AgroSciences LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, has finalized the acquisition of Dairyland Seed Co., Inc., and Bio-Plant Research.

Dairyland Seed, which has been in the seed business since 1907, has sells to more than 20 countries worldwide. Bio-Plant Research of Illinois, US, represents alfalfa, soybean, and wheat genetics developed by world-renowned plant breeding programs and serves more than 200 seed company licensee customers. Dow AgroSciences provides innovative technologies for crop protection, pest and vegetation management, seeds, traits, and biotechnology.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Global sales for Dow AgroSciences are $3.8 billion.
