Bob Fairclough, Team Leader of amis AgriGlobe, Kleffmann Group
Pesticides for the crop protection market have seen fairly steady growth since 2009 with and should exceed more than $60 billion in 2014. Asia remains the leading market for pesticides followed by Europe, Latin America, North America, and the Middle East and Africa. These areas have shown growth, with the exception of the Middle East and Africa which has remained mostly flat since 2008 showing only a slight uptick in the past couple of years.

"People ask why, and I say, why not. I dream of the day India becomes the largest exporter of crop protection chemicals in the world. S.K. Raza, Director, Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology
"There is no chemical on Earth that is non-toxic. Everything is toxic. Even a pinch of salt makes your food very tasty, but if you swallow 4 grams of salt, it will be very difficult for you to survive. Everything has to be judiciously used. Water has to be judiciously taken. Food has to be judiciously taken."

Dr. P.K. Patanjali, Chief Formulation Scientist, Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology
"Regarding synthetic pesticides, resistance is a big issue. When any pesticide starts developing resistance what the farmer does at the field level? They start increasing the doses. That’s a big issue, big problem. There is no judicious use of pesticides. They are not being educated by the agencies and under these conditions, resistance becomes worse."
-- Dr. P.K. Patanjali, Chief Formulation Scientist, Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology
